Theresa Wolfwood, “Beyond the Veil of Sand: The Life of the Saharawi People in Exile and under Occupation”

Theresa Wolfwood is the director of Barnard-Boecker Centre-Foundation, Victoria: www.bbcf.ca

She is co- coordinator of Victoria Women in Black and is active in many local and international organizations including Victoria Mining Justice Action Committee, Central America Support Committee, Friends of Western Sahara, Voice of Women, Canadian Peace Research Association (CPRA), One Democratic State Network, Arab Group for Protection of Nature, Transcend: Art for Peace and NOBASES Network among others. She has been on delegations and to conferences in Palestine and Western Sahara.

She has spoken and made presentations at the AGM of CPRA in 2013, the Gernika, Spain peace conference in 2012, at World Social Forums in Brazil, Turkey, India and Kenya and many workshops, meetings and rallies in Canada and abroad. She travelled on the WILPF Peace Train to Beijing in 1995 to participate in the UN Women’s Forum.
Theresa is a published photographer; her photos and textile art have been exhibited widely. She is particularly interested in the arts of resistance and peace.
